For Facebook’s AR Creation Platform, SparkAR, we created and implemented a few world AR scenes on their platform that would be used in their website home page and commercial. We worked with Tool of North America, Facebook, and Meister to create the creative and technical content for the scenes. We deployed and tested them via the Facebook and SparkAR apps.
In the first scene, we implemented multiple food character animations for them to choose from. This scene makes use of SparkAR’s plane tracking ability. We initially used image recognition on the cafe menu, but later went with a world AR plane tracking approach.
The second scene involved a more technical approach from Facebook. The SparkAR team has been developing a “Makeup Mask” filter that could take the makeup of one user and create a filter that could be used by another user via their app. We implemented their technology into a scene and deployed it to be used in the commercial.
Lastly, we had the interactive portion. We worked with Meister, an Art Studio to produce multiple animated food objects that we could interact with. We settled on Mallow, a marshmallow like character. Through visual scripting, we could play multiple animations on finger tap. We also used PNG sequencing to give the character shadows and depth during the animation.
